Blondes Have More Fun?

Recently I made a huge change! I went blonde! I've been a brunette my whole life and I've never really even made any kind of change to my natural color (besides last summer when I temporarily self-dyed by hair maroon...yeah).
On Pinterest I had been seeing all of these gorgeous photos of girls with light and flirty blonde hair and after drooling over these pictures over and over I found myself wanting what these girls had. Since it's the middle of the summer and I don't have a job, I figured why not give the look a try! If it didn't work out I didn't have to worry about being forced to face the public eye before I would fix it so I decided to take a leap of faith and try something new.
I began this process thinking I could make the change myself so I took a trip to my local drug store and picked up a box of hair dye. The blonde I chose wasn't super platinum or too dirty blonde to me, it was supposedly "golden" blonde. Now on the side of the box it said not to go more than two shades lighter than your natural hair color. I'm naturally a pretty dark brunette, me being me I decided to disregard anything the packaging had to say and decided to do it anyways. Like I said earlier, my attitude coming into this was that if it looked bad I could always easily dye it back dark. My hair didn't change much at all, it was definitely lighter but nothing super significant. My hair naturally has a lot of red in it so my hair looked more auburn than brunette after the first dyeing.
A few days later I bought another box of the same dye and dyed my hair again. This time my hair came out more orange...great. It was really only noticeable in certain lights but I wasn't too worried since this was all fun and games for me. Although I wasn't really digging the light but slightly orange hair. I was considering purchasing another box of dye but by the time I did that and really got my hair to the lightness that I wanted it, I felt like I could've just gone to a salon and gotten the results I wanted the first time and it'll be done right. My awesome dad said that he would pay for me to go ahead and get it done professionally and I jumped at his offer! I was of course scolded by my asian hair stylist for using box dye and causing my hair to have an orangish hue but whatevs! Now my hair is successfully blonde and I love it! It'll definitely be a change with having to keep up with the blonde hair now but for the time being I'm enjoying the change and so far I've gotten all positive feedback! Hopefully I'll continue to love it!

Pity Party

I have always been one to throw myself a pity party. I get down in the dumps really easily and I tend to stay there. I know I have the ability to pick myself up and push through it, but most of the time I let it engulf me and then hours worth or days worth of a mixture of depression and anger ensues. I've always had trouble with feeling depressed and over the past 2 years I've really worked hard at combatting it, but this summer I've only backtracked.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm cooped up in my house for what feels like 24/7. Now I know you're going to say, why don't you go do something? Well you see, I really don't have many or any friends here in my home town cause I had a falling out with most of my friends my senior year in high school. This means when I come home, I really only hang out with my family. There's only so much I can take of my family before I feel like I'm going to go insane. I believe this is simply because I'm at that point in my life when I want to be my own person doing the thing I want to do, and like most parents they don't seem to see things they way I do. I've been hanging out with my family for the past 2 and a half months and I don't think I can take any more. I also have a lot of problems with anxiety and taking charge of things, not in a work sense, but more in a social sense. I've always social anxiety and that really affected me in high school and even my freshman year in college, although I do feel I've also come a long way. I also haven't had the money to go and do anything. I could seem to find a job this summer for the life of me, and believe me...I tried. I applied to at least 15 different places, had interviews for half of them and as soon as I told them it would only be a summer job they all said almost the exact same thing, "that's such a shame! If you were here through the fall we'd definitely hire you on the spot, but we're just not looking for summer help at this time". Try hearing that over and over! So now I'm penniless, friendless and bored out of my freaking mind. I'm itching to get back to College Station and get back to the friends that I made my freshman year and I'm anxious to make new friends. I definitely want to step even more out of my comfort zone my sophomore year and just let loose.

My first step in "getting out of my comfort zone" is rushing. Yes, I have chosen to rush this fall as a sophomore at A&M and I'm really excited about it! I had considered it before my freshman year but decided against it, and I'm glad I didn't rush then. I genuinely believe that I'm ready for it now though. Preparing for rush has kept me somewhat busy cause there is quite a bit that goes into it, but preparing for rush only goes so far before I'm bored again!

I've begun getting my apartment ready which is pretty exciting! I've gone DI-Wild! I went to my local Goodwill and purchased a few items that I plan to fix up and make pieces that will really make my room feel homey. I'll possibly post some tutorials on the projects that I'm doing! They're super cheap and really anyone could do them!

Sumertime Blues

I had such high expectations for this summer and I'm sad to say that this summer has been somewhat of a fail. Going into summer 2k13 I had 4 goals in mind: make money, study hard, get fit, and become a tan goddess. It's a month into summer and I can safely say that really none of these have been met...although I am about 4 shades darker!

I haven't found a job and the sad truth is I probably won't have one this summer since that window of opportunity is now shut...like sealed and locked shut. In the past I have had no problem scoring a summer job, even though they've turned out to be jobs that I absolutely despised and now have horror stories about at least I was making some dough. I applied to well over 15 places and only one place wanted to hire me and it was the worst gig around. My only down fall was the time constraint of only being in my hometown for a few months before I move back to the promise land...College Station, Texas. After much debate I didn't take the job that was offered to me cause I honestly thought that something better would come my way. I guess I was wrong! So basically I have no income this summer which means I have no spending money to do the things I want to do. Fingers crossed I can land a babysitting job every once in a while cause some money would be nice.

As far as studying goes, this summer class that I'm taking is insanely boring but it isn't too bad. The work load isn't horrible and to be honest I'm kinda glad that it gives me something to do with my day. I'm taking political science cause I don't feel like taking it at A&M, it would just be another thing to worry about and I've already moved on to upper levels within the Business school. The nice thing is that I just have to pass the class to get credit for the class, since no one will ever see the actually grade in the class since I'm taking it at my local college I don't feel any pressure to get an A; and lemme say that the quality of my work so far has definitely not been A quality. As long as I pass, I'm good. My professor for the class is actually a prof at A&M and most of the other students in the class are Aggies as well, it's a tad ironic & cool! I've been taking trips up to the local library/college to get work done and it's kinda nice to be back in the college atmosphere at times.

Getting fit...yeah. When I first moved back home I was super good about getting up in the morning and running and working out. I was super proud of myself and really got into the routine of consistently working out. As you can probably tell I have since fallen off that band wagon and I am struggling to get back on, even though I need too, desperately. Getting fit before I head back to school is a must, cause I want to be a bombshell, feel confident and be in a good place before classes start.

Welp like I said I'm about 4 shades darker, but considering the fact that I started out as pale as a white sheet it doesn't really make much of a difference. I think tanning is about the one thing that I've been successful at this summer, how incredibly sad is that!

There is still plenty of time to turn this summer around and although I'm throwing myself a pity party this summer has been filled with some pretty good times. I'm getting to spend time with my boyfriend (whom I met in college and conveniently only lives 30 minutes away from my hometown), I'm getting to spend time with my family (extended family included) and I've gotten to reconnect with my childhood best friend whom I had kind of fallen out with. All in all summer hasn't been too bad so far,  I just hope that it starts to pick up soon cause I still got 2 and a half more months of this!

Peace and Gig'em
